Dr. Novak performs as Principal Clarinetist of the Queer Urban Orchestra, in the opera orchestra of the Blue Hill Troupe, and in various ensembles throughout New York City. He has performed extensively in Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, as former Principal Clarinetist of the Manhattan Symphonie, and with a wide array of chamber music ensembles including Chalumeaux NYC and with James Adler and Friends at the Yamaha Studio in New York. Performing around the world, Dr. Novak has had the honor of soloing and performing as principal clarinetist at David Geffen Hall, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, Hill Auditorium, Heinz Hall, Beijing Poly Theater, the Guangzhou Opera House, Shanghai Symphony Hall, and Carnegie Hall.
